Down Hole Shear Wave Velocity Testing

CME’s experienced staff can provide Down Hole Seismic Testing in a cased borehole to determine the geo physical properties of the subsurface materials at the project site. Sensors are lowered down a cased borehole to various depths, and a Seismic event is created at the surface, such as by hitting a steel plate with a hammer. The sensors measure P (compression) and S (Shear) wave travel times at specified intervals of depth to 100 feet below existing grade surface. After the down-hole test data recording is completed, the data is processed and a Shear Wave Profile is created. A Down Hole Shear Wave Velocity Test Report is produced, which provides the data to calculate the seismic site class, in accordance with the current New York State Building Code requirements.
